“Backfin Blues Bar & Grill was established in 2004 by friends of mine. Their love and passion for food inspired them to explore the restaurant business: an industry previously unknown to them. Through dedication and a team of service professionals, they discovered this unique and historical location in Port Deposit, Maryland and created the Backfin Blues you know and love.

I have been in the restaurant business since 1978 working my way up the ranks in the field. When the former owners approached me in 2007, my family and I made the decision to purchase the business and create a legacy run by generations of the Steele family.

Our customers have described us as an ‘upscale dining restaurant – in a casual atmosphere.’ We aspire to give our customers 5 star service, unique culinary experiences at fine dining standards, creatively hand crafted cocktails, and a thoughtfully curated selection of wines. Through all our finery, we strive to maintain the neighborly spirit of the town we call home. We don’t just serve guests; we serve friends.
